For this historic farmhouse in Columbia County, F:T was called upon to create an addition for the greatly expanded kitchen on the ground floor and a charming dormered guest bedroom on the second floor. The spatial organization of the house was also reworked with the addition of a new stairway and partitions to create separate wings for guests and master bedroom. A luxurious new master bathroom and an elegant guest bath were created in the process.
F:T’s addition extended the existing roof line and added a new bay with a dormer to create a seamless extension to the existing structure. The work also created a newfound sense of order to the facades by eliminating a series of randomly placed small windows with sets of large French doors and great sets of double hung windows above. Creative exploration of traditional and new materials continues to be a defining characteristic of our practice.
