The installation at the Black and White Gallery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, is a life sized architectural diorama, a huge scale model of a project to be built in Saugerties, NY. The 1:4 scale model, a 25’ long construction, includes the abstracted landscape with trees and dramatic topography representing the ravine over which the project levitates. The experience of the project is one of ambiguous scale and an uncanny confusion of life-sized and model scale. One peers into a huge doll house and hulks over a Lilliputian landscape.
The idea of creating a surreal architectural tableau struck us as being a provocative study of scale and object as well as giving us the opportunity to explore the design of the “real” house from an entirely new perspective as an art object.
