This home for an artist consists of a large painting studio attached to a contemporary living space. The house sits on a steeply sloping site in a thickly wooded area with abundant rock outcroppings. The footprint of the building creates a “swoop” on the landscape. The gentle arc of the plan follows the natural topographic characteristics of the site. The program includes a large screened in porch which functions as an aviary for the client’s pet parrot.
