FT began the renovation of this railroad apartment by eliminating interior walls that previously divided the apartment into several small rooms. This alteration of the rooms opens up the floor plan and creates an organized sequence of spaces flooded with natural light. Large living and dining spaces flow together seamlessly with the use of retractable glass walls. Guiding circulation is a soffit panel with hidden recessed lighting. This panel traces the path through the apartment and sheds a warm light down the walls below. This luxurious urban residence is a complex study in materials and textures. A rich palette of specialty marbles, polished walnut, and suede come together to create a series of warm and intimate spaces with an elegant modern sensibility.
